Schoolchildren with new back packs

Schoolbags 2025

FONSA supports education in Nablus. We were asked to contribute to provide schoolbags and essential contents for needy children starting school in Nablus this year. This covered primary and secondary schools – and girls and boys.

These children need all the help we can give them. Having the necessary stationery is important and something positive we can do to get them off to a good start.

Schools were chosen from areas where families were finding it difficult to afford essentials. This included the Old City area.

A schoolbag and pencils

The bags contained a variety of stationary items including pencils and notebooks.

They were assembled by volunteers from the Witness Centre who also distributed the bags to the schools most in need.

A group of young volunteers

Thank you to the volunteers who made this possible. And, of course, to our donors who funded the items. We contributed about £1,000 to this project.

We also send our best wishes to all the children we helped. Their lives are very difficult.

The Israeli army continues to invade their streets and homes. The Israeli government imposes travel and funding restrictions which constrict the Palestinian economy resulting in severe financial pressures for families in Nablus and beyond.
